This workshop is designed for those wanting to work on their painting skills and techniques and experience what color and brushstroke can do for your painting. We will be talking about: \n\nInspiration- how and where to get inspired\nColor – how to mix and use colors\nComposition – what makes a good composition\nBrushstrokes – how to loosen up and create more impressionistic as opposed to realistic paintings.\n\nAfter a brief discussion and introduction\, I will be doing a demo in oil paints to start off the workshop. Some of the topics covered during the demo will include : \n\nThe underpainting;\ndesign and composition\nhow to get started on the values in your painting\nnegative space painting\, and\ncolor mixing\n\nThe key to enjoying painting is knowing the colour mixing!  Now you can letting go\, loosening up and having fun painting! \nCanvas paper will be supplied to do up a color chart and the value study. \nPlease bring your favorite brushes and paints\,  plus a canvas or two for your painting you will work on in the afternoon. The balance of the day you will be working on your own paintings\, your choice of subject matter. If you are a fast painter\, make sure you bring lots of canvasses and reference photos. Many of the Impressionists\, including Monet\, Pissaro and Renoir\, advocated plein air painting\, and a lot of their work was painted outside. The traditional medium of plein air painting was oils. Some of the small field studies done by the plein air artists were then used in the studio\, where they were enlarged onto big canvasses. \nCome and meet Ann Willsie\, a contemporary impressionistic artist from Kelowna\, B.C.\, and watch as she works through a painting in oils en plein air. This event will take place\, weather permitting\, across the street from Creations Art Gallery.
