Peter Fischer is an acclaimed contemporary painter based in Ontario. With a lifelong devotion to the creative process, he began painting in oils at just twelve years old. Following a successful, exacting career in graphic arts, illustration, and photo retouching, Fischer transitioned to painting full-time in 2013, bringing a masterful eye for detail to the canvas.
Fischer’s art explores the fine nuances of the natural world, elevating the traditional landscape with a modern, subtly abstract edge. Guided by careful composition and a highly controlled chromatic scale, he highlights the rhythmic shapes and patterns organically found in nature. Drawing profound inspiration from the rugged Niagara Escarpment and his extensive travels through Quebec and the Maritimes, Fischer's paintings offer more than just a view. They create an immersive, tranquil escape that brings a profound sense of calm to any space.
Exhibitions & Collections
Fischer exhibits extensively across Canada, with showcases in Toronto, Ottawa, Stratford, Waterloo, and Charlottetown, alongside public exhibitions at the Art Galleries of Hamilton and Burlington. A highly sought-after artist at auction, his work frequently commands top bids—most notably at the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s “Super Auction,” where his captivating piece Leander Sky was specially selected by Sotheby’s.
Today, Fischer's work is celebrated globally, with paintings held in prestigious private and corporate collections throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan, and Australia. Distinguished corporate acquisitions include the Ronald McDonald House, St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, and the Canadian Labour Congress in Ottawa.
