Peter Fischer is a contemporary painter based in Ontario. Drawing on a lifelong exploration of the creative process, Fischer began painting in oils at the age of twelve. After a successful career in graphic arts, illustration, and photo retouching—where he honed an exacting eye for detail—he transitioned to painting full-time in 2013.
Fischer’s work focuses primarily on the fine nuances of the natural world. He captures representational landscapes that often invoke a slightly abstract or modern impression through careful composition and a controlled chromatic scale. His attention is frequently drawn to the repetition of shapes and patterns occurring naturally in the environment. He gathers his inspiration from the rugged landscapes of the Niagara Escarpment passing through Dundas, as well as his extensive travels through Quebec and the Maritimes. Through his work, Fischer aims to create an immersive experience, invoking a sense of calm and offering the viewer a tranquil path to follow.

Fischer exhibits his work extensively across Canada, including galleries in Charlottetown, Waterloo, Ottawa, Toronto, and Stratford, as well as the public art galleries of Hamilton and Burlington.
