Description

This classic French cove design emerged during the reign of Louis XVI in the 18th century. The graceful scoop panel, finished in a soft, matte patina, is complemented by a brightly burnished top edge, a string of pearls, the ornamentation on the inner lip, and a 22K gold surface.

French Design Origin:

During the reign of Louis XV, interior decoration, including frame design, came to the forefront. The styles of the time reflected more curves and circles replicating scrollwork and swags used in interior design and artwork.  When Louis XVI became King in 1774, his reign marked a return to the classics – the Neoclassical period. Designs during this time became simpler, with straighter lines and more symmetry; colours used were lighter in tone, and ornamentation became more delicate.
