Contemporary Design Origin:

Contemporary: Contemporary or “Modern” refers to a period dating from the 1860s through today is used to describe the style and the ideology of art produced during this era. Most historians agree that the modern art period began with and art show by Manet in 1863. During the next hundred years, our perceptions of not just art, but how it would be presented, changed. No longer would the paintings of the day be presented in period frames. The art of Picasso, Braque, Rouault, Matisse, Duchamp, Chagall, Kandinsky and their contemporaries necessitated new frame style to complement their art.

Designs with clean modern lines, influenced by the Bauhaus architecture of the time, proved an effective way to showcase modern art. Today this style is captured in this collection of Contemporary frames. True to the Bauhaus style, the Contemporary Collection’s unadorned simple forms and elegant style create the perfect harmony between frame and modern works of art. The deep, dense luster of the gold and white gold on the surface of these frames is achieved through the meticulous craftsmanship of our artisans. Choices in clay colour and karat add a variety of ways to enhance the drama and colour of the art you are presenting.
