Artist Statement

I grew up in Newfoundland where artistry was the land and sea.

As a child, I spent countless hours searching through wild brambles and climbing the wind ridden trees. The mossy rocks and trodden paths interweaved with delicate pink flocked flowers behind our saltbox home.

These paths lead to a river where I claimed a special rock as a perfect chair. I’d sit and observe the tumbling rush of water bubbling around. as if dancing to the Lilypond a gaze away.

Fond childhood memories became part of my adult artistry when I started to paint. Painting is wonderful, emotional and communicative with nature and the world.

As an artist, I hope my paintings speak quiet words in pictures to understand the love of our environment and the things we forget to take time and notice in a simple way.  Each work has a story and often hidden pictures, intended to save thought for our environment like childhood memories.

Painting has become a way of life, meaningful, with every stroke and dab of colour.  Each piece is executed with the finest of pigments and structure for lasting treasures long into the future.
