A Dutch design from the 17th century, this classic drawing frame has a rich, ebonized surface with rippled ornamentation on the outer edge. The design in accentuated by a delicate cove on the inside edge gilded in 22K gold, and pyramid ornaments within the keyed corners.

The Dutch were among the first people to trade in exotic woods and incorporate the beauty of natural grain patterns into decorative items; foremost was the use of ebony.
