Robert Amirault Golden Glow 16×20
A great place to see waves, both calm and at times huge is in Hawaii. I had the opportunity to spend a few weeks on the island of Maui working on an art reproduction project with a local artist and managed to carve out some time for me to study the wave action along the shore. I was interested in the rock formations as they were so different from the wave worn rocks I knew on the Atlantic coast. I soon realized that the Hawaiian rock was relatively new as they were formed from the lava that came out of recent volcano eruptions.
This painting is a study in warm and cool light effects.
