Robert Amirault Surf Shadows Size: 18″ x 24″

   Growing up in Nova Scotia, living in a seacoast town, we were always concerned with water because of its effect on the weather and the lives of so many fisherman and their families.

   As a young artist I found painting waterscapes to be a very difficult subject and my early attempts at it were failures.

   When we moved to Ontario and no longer near water I focused on painting the beauty of the southern parts of the province. However, I continued to struggle at painting convincing waves, mostly for my own pleasure.

   In recent years we have traveled to places known for there great waterscapes and I made painting waves an important part of what I do. Those efforts have resulted in this exhibit ‘MAKING WAVES’.

   ‘Surf Shadows’ is of active waves on the California coast.
