Description

Patricia Gagic Eternal Bones 40×30

Eternal Bones by Patricia Karen Gagic is an original oil on canvas measuring 40″ high × 30″ wide. The title sounds stark; the painting is anything but. This is winter light made permanent: a great crest of bone-white strokes breaking across the upper canvas — part wave, part rib, part wing — and beneath it, still shallows where time seeps visibly through the paint. Of all the works in Gagic’s 2026 collection, this is the most hushed and the most skeletal, in the way frost on a window is skeletal.

Original Abstract Oil Painting by Patricia Karen Gagic

A band of periwinkle blue holds the sky, brushed in fine horizontal grain. Below it the crest arrives: long, curved sweeps of white and ivory ribbed with black, small pockets of lilac caught between the strokes like shadow in snow. The lower half opens into pale grey-green flats where smoky, sepia-black seams bleed sideways through wet paint — the look of ink finding its own path under ice — scattered with frost-white spatter and crossed by a single hairline loop of white, thin as a skater’s line. Faint red threads surface in two or three places, quiet as a pulse.

Colour, Texture, and Technique

The palette is built on bone white, ivory, and pale grey-green, held between periwinkle blue above and smoky sepia-black below, with lilac pockets and faint red threads as accents. Gagic works the crest in loaded, directional strokes and lets the lower passages behave like weather — pigment bleeding into pigment, edges feathering as they dry — then seals the surface in a satin finish. The painting is signed at the lower right.

Where This Artwork Works Best

At 40″ × 30″, Eternal Bones brings calm, cool light to a room. It is beautiful in a bedroom or study, over a mantel, or in any space built on soft neutrals — greys, ivories, pale blues — where its quiet drama can set the temperature. It pairs naturally with linen, pale oak, marble, and brushed nickel, and for a collector of Canadian contemporary abstraction it is the collection’s winter poem.
